No one else showed, but I'm pretty sure there is no other organization in this small community. Any time there is a major fire, they are notified. Within one hour, the Red Cross was serving coffee and snacks to the firemen and those affected by the fire. The firemen were both accustomed and reliant upon the Red Cross. Another primary function is to provide clothing, food, and shelter for displaced families.
I am not in a position to make comparisons, but we have a volunteer spirit in this rural, coastal community and that would positively impact the quality of any activity. My only concern is that if you desire to give to the Red Cross, give locally.
