Pushing it probably 3  weeks., out the Erie (east) to the  Oswego then Lk. 
Ontario, then the Seaway to the Chamblin, Champlain would put  you in 
Waterford, NY ....east end of the Erie canal... You'd have many locks to  go 
through, and the eight on the seaway, may give commercial traffic first call.  
>From there to NYC would be perhaps 2 days.
ROUGHLY
Cayuga to Sorrel about 250 statute miles.
Sorrel to Waterford about 200 
Waterford to NYC perhaps 120
