Subject: Re: [Liveaboard] Fwd: Southbound2 Herb

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your reply. What I am trying to do is find some way to pick up Herb
over the internet. In the past, there was a way to tune in, on the web, via
remote control receiver. I think it was an Icom R75. It was available on
www.dxzone.com. That receiver is no longer available on that site and I have
not be able to find another marine ssb receiver linked to the web.

I have a portable sw ssb, but antenna issues prevent me from picking up the
marine bands (or much else). As someone on the list already noted, he
sometimes has trouble receiving via ssb in a marina, much less in a city. So I
was hoping to find out if any kind soul knew of another web controlled receiver
available for marine bands. The other alternative was to find some kind ham
operator who could listen and relay the info to me via email or whatever.
There are other sw/ham receivers online, but ham radio is way beyond my ability
and I don't know if they are marine band capable.

The essence of it is my son is doing a delivery from the Azores to Newport,
current waiting for weather on Flores, Azores. He intends to go via the
trades, ie, Bermuda, then up diagonally across the gulf stream back to Newport.
The expected passage time is approx 4-5 weeks, depending on wx, fuel (stopping
in Bermuda) etc. We have very successfully used a SPOT in the past, but one
is not available to him for this trip (long story).

Corinne, landlocked in Rochester, NY at the moment
