Just a note from personal experience: we liveaboards are *very* good at
compromises; we find solutions where other people often can't. What this
also means, however, is that we're often willing to accept costs that
other people won't ("Sure, the quality isn't great, but it'll keep me
afloat till I can fix it!") Be *VERY* careful that you don't get into
that mindset when someone else is providing the solution - especially
when they created the problem in the first place.
I understand that the owner wants to get it done cheap. Just make sure
that the discount he gets doesn't come out of YOUR pocket, including in
the quality of the repair.
