Thanks for the further details. I've just built a test iso based on what is currently in trunk. It appears that once again the new unionfs is buggy, as the bootscripts themselves produce at least 3 kernel oopses.
So. With that in mind, let's start testing your device-mapper setup more fully, Alexander. As things stand now, trunk is broken, so in any case, we'll either have to revert the recent unionfs changes, or bring the dm changes over from your branch. I think I'd rather start getting more familiar with your setup, so let's bring whatever necessary changes from the dm branch over to trunk.
