I'm sorry to report that I didn't keep good notes on how I get this to
mostly work but I'm currently running on a laptop that I boot strapped
from the 6.1.1-1 live CD.
I had to do a number of things to get it all to work, but after flailing
about I have a "not too bad" system. I actualy kindof prefer it to my
SuSE9.3 and FC3 computers. I know more about how its working and thats
nice.
Anyway, I think it would be a cool sub progect to formalize and clean up
the procedure to the point that it could be automated.
From a high level I needed to do the following things:
1) format a partition with ext3
2) mount partition
3) cp -a /dev/.sqfs/* to the new partion.
4) build a kernel and install it to the new partion
5) install grub on the new partion's /boot/grub. and configure it
6) overwright the /etc/rc.d files with the lfs-bootscripts
7) update fstab
8) tweek inttab to not auto log in as root
9) tweak /etc/sysconfig/createfiles to setup /tmp/.ICE-unix dir, for
non-root X to start up ok.
10) added my user account.
I'm sure there are a few key steps that I'm forgettting. I didn't take
good notes :(, and now that I have the system mostly working I don't
want to blow it away, expecialy as I've added stuff and configurations
that I like.
I have an old desktop I think I can use for some of this if there is
interest out there for such a thing.
