I use the /proc/config.gz to install LFS on many PCs in my hostel.(Spreading linux through LFS ;) ) But since the livecd uses initrd and normal LFS won't, I have to change the EXT2 (sometimes EXT3 ) from M to Y. It works perfectly and then I can twaek the kernel or leave it.
