Over the last few days there has been several people comming into
#lfs-support on IRC with the problem of binutils looping on make. The
cause of this is when the system clock is set to a date in the past from
when the binutils package was made. I think some kind of not somewhere
on boot, or maybe an initscript to setup the clock might help.

The LiveCD does come with the standard setclock script, dialog-based
boot script that creates /etc/sysconfig/clock, and timezone configurator
that also runs at boot. So any clock inaccuracy stems from incorrect
date in BIOS.
OTOH, adding the ntp or openntpd package (but not a bootscript) might be
a good idea. Justin, Jeremy: what do you think?
