#1648: Net-setup gives no clue about the Ethernet card order --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: [email protected] Type: defect | Status: new Priority: high | Milestone: Component: CD | Version: Severity: major | Keywords: --------------------------------------------+------------------------------- Suppose that a user has two network cards made by different manufacturers (e.g., Intel and Realtek). Then he wants to configure them using net- setup. All he sees is that he has eth0 and eth1. Which is which? (this order even changes between reboots)
Net-setup should display the MAC address next to network card name, and it also would be nice to look up manufacturers according to this table: http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/oui.txt and http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/iab.txt -- Ticket URL: <http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/livecd/ticket/1648> LiveCD Trac <http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/livecd/> Linux From Scratch LiveCD -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/livecd FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/faq/ Unsubscribe: See the above information page
