The ticket still hasn't been resolved and it seems that it is a huge pain. With the 6.2 release in the future, which works fine with systems as in that ticket, this will be less of an issue.

I suppose that the key difference is the compiler: all 6.2-preX images work.

The -Os flag is known to be buggy in gcc-3.x. If you are able to test this further, could you please remove it from CFLAGS and disable the "optimize for size" kernel configuration option?

If nobody is able to test, I will close this as WONTFIX.
