Thanks. However, the remap63 problem appears to be specific to your computer. "remap63" works fine both with your image and with the one I produced myself with a cracked copy of Hitachi disk manager (the crack was needed to remove the "only Hitachi drives are supported" limitation). Samsung version didn't allow me to install the overlay. > Output of lsmod of 6.3 with "load=ide_generic" and without > "hda=remap63": > [begin] > Module Size Used by > psmouse 40976 0 > ext2 50308 1 > isofs 36796 1 > zlib_inflate 16256 1 isofs > ide_cd 40992 1 > cdrom 38048 1 ide_cd > ide_disk 18432 0 > ide_generic 2304 0 [permanent] > ide_core 127684 3 ide_cd,ide_disk,ide_generic > [end] So indeed, the non-detection of the disk is caused by the IDE controller not being a PCI device. I.e., this is done deliberately, when disabling by default all drivers that do blind poking of ports. Such drivers cause other computers to hand at boot. So "load=ide-generic" is the right solution to this problem, and all future CDs will require this (or, if I switch to libata, "load=pata-legacy", but I need to add an equivalent of remap63 to that configuration first). > hda: hda1[DM] The [DM] is not present in my self-made image, thanks. -- Alexander E.
