Hopefully in about a month I'll want to modify the rawhide (f14) version of livecd-creator to allow use of lzma compression. squashfs-tools should be ready for rawhide very shortly and once 2.6.34 hits rawhide we should have the prerequistits for using lzma compression for live images.
I'd like to propose the following change and hear back what people think. I would like the default compression to be lzma. I would like there to be an option compression=COMPRESSION where COMPRESSION is passed using -comp to mksquashfs. By default COMPRESSION would be lzma (since mksquashfs defaults to zlib). While there is some argument for making zlib the default for backwards compatibilty, I don't think that is a big deal and having the better compression by default seems to make more sense to me. A test with the games spin showed a 10% reduction in size of the image. -- livecd mailing list [email protected] https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/livecd
