Ok, I got it building again.  I had to use older versions of device-mapper*, 
lvm2*, and udisk* in addition to the previous ones (NetworkManager*, 
dbus-glib*, and udev*).

Let it be known though, as should be obvious, that this workaround is becoming 
more and more precarious with each additional release of updates.
