Hi,

first a BIG THANK YOU for this very promising project! Looks really
interesting! Please keep up the good work!

What I want to do: I would like to use my old DV Cams (not HDV) for a
realtime interview situation. I can not afford a live DV mixer / switch, so
I found LIVES :)

My question: is it possible to mix / switch two dv cams and stream the
results + write the mix to a file in DV or MPEG2 quality? Has anybody done
this before? If it is possible, what cpu will this need? (Audio should come
from Cam A always.)

Even more: is it possible to do the same as above plus add overlay (text) to
the video before streaming + writing out to a file?

Even more: is it possible to apply any effects like color correction to
video data and compression to the resulting audio? I am thinking of adding
some nice effects + jingles and apply these live while recording. Also
subtle color correction to make pics of two different cams fit better would
be really nice!

I wanted to test it, but I think it is better to ask before I try doing
things that are impossible (yet) :) I know I am talking about features
present in expensive hardware, but maybe with a very fast processor (or two
or four) this can be done today? Any experiences with this kind of usage for
lives? Would be a great help for the independent video underground...

Thank you very much for your attention!

Snaky
