Thanks a lot, this was very helpful! However I had to uninstall Lives
because it didn't work anyway (strange behaviours only). It seems that
we will have to work with test vershions of Premiere/After Effects on
another computer, because mine is too small for that. I wanted to
avoid that because the project is not really worth it, but it seems
that nothing else would work.
The top menu was just empty, not hidden or covered.

Wow, I didn't know about that :) thanks a lot :)
I tried to use Pitivi video editor that came with Ubuntu, and it did
work well enough that I could make something with it, but then it
exported the video with some strange codec that Youtube can't
understand :( and the video must appear there. So I don't know what to
do...
