just wanted to let people know, i had been using Lives with gtk 3.10 since April with only minor GUI issues, some of which were hard to deal with, but one thing that helped was setting the theme to "none" in preferences. But the other day I installed libgtk-3.12 on Ubuntu Studio 14.04 with the Gnome 3 staging ppa: https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging I don't use gnome or unity so i figured just updating a few things around them wouldn't hurt and so far is has worked well. Recompiled Lives and now the themes look much better and everything is readable/menus functions normally.
