Well, I've opened #57582 when you guys started to "separate release tarballs" of LLVM 15. Now with LLVM 16 it's even more annoying: there is a new `third-party-16.0.0.src.tar.xz`, which is required to build LLVM (or at least, compiler-rt). Again there is not a llvm- prefix and no announcement telling we need this `third-party` thing, nor how to use it correctly.
And there are some even more strange things: there is no version strings after "-" in these doxygen tarballs.
Rant begin:
Can you make your release script correct and provide a guide telling distros how to build LLVM release correctly before separating more and more tarballs?
Rant ends.
There is https://releases.llvm.org/16.0.0/docs/CMake.html, but to me it's telling how to build LLVM from the Git repo or the monolithic llvmorg-16.0.0.tar.xz tarball, not the llvm-16.0.0.src.tar.xz or clang-16.0.0.src.tar.xz tarballs.
