Can't really change the data type. Midi only supports 7bit bytes.  The
multiplier is what is needed in this case. Lb302 must interpret the pitch
wheel as +/- 1 semitone. I thought the other instruments work the same way?
What behavior are you expecting?

If you are trying to obtain an acid slide/portamento, then you should
automate lb302's slide button.
