OK, half the space would be saved, but I feel grouping many tracks into one would be more useful. Think about how nice it would be to just collapse all your N+1 B&B-tracks (+ a few automation tracks) into the space of one and have them out of the way. Of course the segments and waveforms should be drawn inside of this container when feasible. I'm speaking from the user side here, how it all would work in the code is another question. This feature is probably something way more complex than an afternoon hack to shave off a few pixels, which is pretty much all my Qt experience so far...
