Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 (maybe also 11.10 and most likely also Debian) have incomplete Multi-Arch-Support. You can't build wine directly atm, you need to do it in chroot or something. Further the multi-arch naming scheme for libraries (/usr/lib/i386... instead of /usr/lib32/) isn't compatible with winegcc yet.
