It's not that bad really. It's perfectly fine to edit the old pages.
By the way, I don't really see a point in keeping the old pages, the
history, ergo the old version, is kept either way.
If you want to copy a page, you should copy the history with it, there
are tools that do exactly that:

I could install that extension for you as soon as I have time, even
though I think updating the old pages is the better approach. But
that's your decision. ;-)
