Some say there already are too many windows. And a lot of buttons are specific to the window they hang from. Not sure if it's that good to float them around. How about starting off with hidable toolbars and a "view" menu, to hold checkboxes for all toolbars that can be hidden? If/when toolbars are later re-engineered into floating windows some way of getting them back will be needed anyway... Let's see... Main window, top row: New, new from template, open, open recent, save, export - almost all of them duplicated in the menu already, could be made hidable right now. Second row: Show/hide window buttons - all have F-something keystrokes, should be hidable. And why not even put those buttons in the "view" menu as "[checkmark] Song-Editor (F5)" etc.? Piano roll: Those window-widening scale and chord dropdowns are good candidates... And as a bonus, maybe add checkboxes for all UI settings that work without a reboot. I put a patch out some time ago with a start in this direction: http://sourceforge.net/p/lmms/patches/38/ If this makes sense, I could resurrect that code and make a PR. -- [email protected] softrabbit on #lmms ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open source business process management suite built on Java and Eclipse Turn processes into business applications with Bonita BPM Community Edition Quickly connect people, data, and systems into organized workflows Winner of BOSSIE, CODIE, OW2 and Gartner awards http://p.sf.net/sfu/Bonitasoft _______________________________________________ LMMS-devel mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/lmms-devel
