So over on NetworkRedux we have a virtual private server running Ubuntu
12.04 (which is the same version used for building our Windows versions).
We have root access and can (and have) installed packages on it.
It's probably a silly idea to use a web server for nightly builds but I
wanted to at least propose the possibility of it.
The server's resources are currently limited so it's probably a terrible
idea to share those limited resources (which we use for the web server
currently) and share them with a lengthy build process but it's there and
it's possible and worse case, we could always contact NetworkRedux for more
resources.
The reason I propose this is because I see a pattern of our testers
spending most of their time on the Windows platform, so if we could have a
nightly build of a few parked experimental branches, we could put ourselves
in a position to start testing without manually building and google drive
mirrors.
I'm no expert at this process so I would probably ask someone else to set
it all up if it's decided to be a good idea but I can certainly take the
time to get the dependencies met on the server and get a successful build
fired off if it comes to that.
Thoughts?
