I'm never a fan of breaking backwards compatibility but if we do I would
like to take the "old résumé" approach:

   - We can lose formatting, but we ALWAYS keep the content (in this case
   our midi notes)
   - We try out best to maintain the same basic layout (keep our
   tracks/channels *somewhat* resembling what they were before)
   - We never let the software crash because an old file is opened
   - If the changes are extremely drastic, we consider using new file
   extensions to put a line in the sand

I would also like to see 2.0 start working toward some of widget
layout/screen-real-estate ideas but I also admit that they are mostly
cosmetic and probably better suited for someone like myself. :)

The rest I think is great.  I still have some strong personal feelings
about prioritization of some of these features versus some others I feel
the community has been begging for, but I'd rather not take your email off
topic and bring up bug popularity, since this isn't a democracy (and really
can't be, at least not yet).
