@musikbear, in the future, please use the bug tracker for this, especially
when you are describing Windows-only problems as the majority of the
lmms-devel list doesn't use Windows.

Pops and clicks can be caused by several things, but the issues described
in #967 <https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/967> should be mostly
addressed with #1629 <https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/pull/1629>.

The "fix" has been staged for 1.2.

There are several other reasons for pops/clicks on Windows:

   - Incompatible sound driver
   - "Windows Direct Sound" vs. SDL
   - Unresolved performance issues as they relate to the software itself

Many people claim that using a proprietary DLL installed to the LMMS
installation helps, but this workaround is already outlined in our release
notes <https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/releases/tag/v1.1.0>.

Furthermore, these steps have been taken to help performance on Windows,
but the other platform still suffer performance issues as well, so the
devel team is taking active steps towards fixing this at the core, but that
takes quite a bit of time.
