Here's my response to the one about the Markers Editor window not opening on the Lubuntu OS, I think it's important to bring up the results here: ----------------------------------------------------
I'm afraid you're going to have to change desktops for now. Results (these are ALL on the Lubuntu OS): Standard fresh Lubuntu or OpenBox login: MusE FAIL on multiple fronts: Markers Editor rarely opens. Yes, I got it to open! For the life of me I cannot determine the factors involved in making the Markers Editor appear. (In all my tests I concentrated on altering/tweaking only one thing - our new MDI settings.) I did this, did that, and magically it started appearing and closing properly, but after changing the MDI settings it would fail again. In fact, depending on our MDI settings I also could not see the Arranger at all! I think I was able to pin that down at least. When windows were absent I noted that I could sometimes see the proper menus, but that was iffy, depended on various stuff. Even WORSE: Tested MESS synthesizers (no installed DSSI-VST synths ATM): Most of the synth windows fail to appear as well, even though the checkmarks were clearly set. Whew, this is... We do some custom stuff but I don't think we're doing anything too radical here - I checked the code and ran GDB and we simply call setVisible(true/false) on the window, and yes it's called every time I toggle the Markers checkmark. And yet nothing happens... Now to test the Display Manager... I installed the KUbuntu metapackage: It asked whether I wanted to remain with LightDM or switch to KDM, I chose KDM. The login screen is now KDE instead of the original Lubuntu login screen. Several new desktop choices now appear at login. I chose 'Lubuntu' desktop from the login manager. Tested MusE: Markers et al. still FAIL. OpenBox, KDE with OpenBox or other flavours FAIL as well. Then I re-logged in with standard KDE desktop, and tried MusE: Success! Totally. Then I installed Ubuntu Desktop (the Unity thingy) : Success! Almost totally: Wow, I never tried Unity before - We got Menu problems... issues. This might be what would happen to us on a Mac OS? I tried Metacity but it just froze, I couldn't get past the login screen. Let's see did I forget any other listed desktops... Well, you get the idea. Also I may try XUbuntu Desktop as well, I'm curious now whether it will work. ------------------ Tim. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
