Has any progress been made on adding native VST support?

This is feature should become the focus of the team for the next release,
mainly because I believe Muse would benefit greatly from being able to
easily utilise, which after 2 weeks solid research I deduced is the only
pro quality synth currently available under Linux.

I could probably use Aspect under Muse by running aspect under carla then
chaining the two with a session manager but I try to avoid session managers
so I'll be sticking with qtractor until muse gains LinuxVST support.

I conducted tests with the synth1 Windows VST plugin using Ardour 3's wine
VST compat and I could run over twice as many instances of synth1 under
real windows XP/reaper than I could under A3 using wine VSTs.

We can surely benefit from all the great work done by falktx with both his
carla plugin host and the VST support he added to Openoctave. I would
recommend fst over vestige because I have a slight GUI prob running Aspect
under qtractor (vestige) that isn't present under the fst-based carla.
