Hi list!
Correct me if I wrong but it would seem to me that the Euphoria sampler is one
of the DSSI plugins bundled by default with muse now right? I hope it is as I
don't ever remember installing it on this machine! :)
--- Nope. Not one of ours. We have no built-in DSSI plugins.
You must have installed it.
I'm not aware of any other working and easy to use DSSI samplers apart from
Euphoria but thankfully I knew what Euphoria and DSSI are - otherwise I
could've suspected there was no way to get an integrated sampler working in
Muse right now.
The descriptive text of Euphoria's menu item below its DSSI plugin submenu
should be modified so that it reads 'Euphoria Sampler', not just Euphoria as
there's no clue there that it is a sampler, especially because the DSSI menu
is itself below Muse's 'Add Synth' menu and I think a sampler as being a
totally distinct category of musical device to a synth, personally.
-- Yes I noticed some naming problems also with vst, which I anticipated.
Checked it out, will try to fix.
I realise there are samplers that are also synths and vice versa but to me a
sampler is not a synth as such so I would even suggest Euporia be highlighted
much more than it currently is by adding it as a whole new entry to the
arrangers context menu as Add Sampler or it may make more sense to rename the
'Add Synth' arranger context sub-menu to 'Add Plugin'.
-- It is a synth. It produces sound in response to midi.
Making it a synth is the only way to deliver midi to it.
MusE has a built-in MESS synth sampler called 'simple synth'.
Samplers like linuxsampler have special procedures to load samples, as the
last time I checked the DSSI version's interface was incomplete.
It is this area of loading samples and such that needs to be done by the
GUI of the plugin, and the linuxsampler DSSI doesn't do it as I recall.
A whole MusE interface for loading samples into one type of synth is hard.
I've been toying with the idea of taking wave track parts and making
'samples' out of them so that one can immediately start playing a
wave part as a 'sample' - that is pitch-shifted according to note played.
This could become reality if I ever finish the time- and pitch- shifting
support.
Tim.
