hi boys, just a few observations...
with this recent round of timfixes Muse2 is close to as good as it gets
on a computer. i'm not joking. sure there are still some things, but when
i think back to where muse was a few years ago i never thought it
possible to be where we are today.
muse2 is by far the leading midi seq for linux - no question and no
competition at all. it's stable, full featured and a JOY TO USE.
For audio. you know what, i really love it now. i would like to see more
improvements in audio routing configurability, but essentially i'm
getting used to the existing model enough for me to n ot mind that much.
and with the keyboard shortcuts aailable, one can 'automate' almost
anything anyway.
to me there are only 3 really important ones left -
fade handles - usually small rectangles appearing at
the top of an objects' L<>R borders, which when clicked and
dragged will apply a fade
in/fade out amplitude envelope to the wave file.
cross fades - when two audio objects (midi as well ??)
are moved over one another the conjoining region presents
two envelopes - one for the top
layer and one for the lower layer, often called with a separate editor
for ease of use - these are
individually manipulated to create a drawable envelope to seamlessly 'cross
fade' or "heal" the join between
the two objects.
LV2 so i can use my Linux DSP and CALF
plugs....
That's it as far as I can see from a users perspective. Keep the
stability we have and we are there.
The routing and mixer issues, cosmetics and a few other operational
things i can (and have) lived with for years ;)
the above stuff is just what is truely missing in any from whatever from
muse atm. and it aint that much considering.
Well done Tim, Robert,Flo, Orcan and of course the happy gnome - Werner
:) to whom we all dip our lids - wouldn't be here if it wern't for you.
best
g
PS: Tim, when i get back on my feet I will certainly make some donation
for your efforts.
