today i fixed the last really blocker for using the bridge:

if mails contain an unknown ReplyTo field (this can happen when someone
answers a mail directly, off-list, and the recipient answers that mail
back to the ML), then this caused an error previously.

now, the script tries to find an equally named topic and adds the mail
to there, or alternatively starts a new topic.

the bridge only misbehaves in the following cases:

- starting a topic by mail, with weird characters. the PHPBB topic will
then contain some ISO-encoded version, escaping the special characters.

- reply off-list, reply on-list again AND change the subject a bit. The
bridge will fail to find the topic it belongs to and create a new topic
instead.

I don't consider these as problems, because I assume this happens very
rarly, if at all (if one does not on purpose tries to defeat the bridge,
as I just did. Except the above quirks, i was not able to :))

Do you want me to try to import the mailing list archives into the forum?
This can be done easily if I have the archive in the Maildir format. I'd
just pipe all mails through the bridging address, so the bridge
considers the archived mail and posts it to the forum.

would be as easy as

for i in *; do cat $i | sendmail [email protected]; done

Let me know if you like that!

Cheers,
flo
