Freewheel has always generally worked well in MusE, but be aware
there is I think one outstanding issue I'm aware of:

If you stop the freewheeling mixdown manually before it has
had a chance to stop by itself, it never comes out of freewheel mode,
such that subsequent transport play mode is actually in full speed
freewheel mode, no way to get out of it but to restart.

I looked at this a long time ago and was aware of why it was happening
but the fix was turning a bit muddy, I think it raised some puzzling questions
about whether it would affect other operations, so I kind of got off track
 and distracted from the fix.
It involves the beginning section of the audio process routine in audio.cpp,
in the section which handles switching transport modes ie turning off
freewheel mode when it is done or manually interrupted.

Thanks.
Tim.
