I meant to also emphasize that currently, a strip's meters show 
 only the first N channels that the strip supports.

I know, it can be tricky to see what's really going on when there
 are no meters for all those extra channels.

But the intention is that for now, any extra channels beyond the first two
 supported by the strip, are most likely to be routed to other Audio Tracks 
 such as Group Tracks where proper metering, pan, and volume can be applied.

For example with SimpleDrums, the first two channels are properly 
 handled by the synth's strip itself with metering, pan, and volume, 
 while the remaining channels are most likely going to be routed 
 through other Audio Tracks such as Group Tracks, where you can
 see meters and apply pan and volume to those channels.
