Just a quick addition: All the options I mentioned are accessible by right-clicking a wave in the wave editor.
Those are 'local' options, which can override 'global' options which are found in the Global Settings dialog. Again, all these options available PER-WAVE may seem like overkill but... I reasoned that it is a good thing to have. Our app is one in which a wave could be anything: Bassy. Trebly. Percussive. Noise. Non-musical. Thus, as these libraries usually mention, it's all about settings settings settings! Per wave in our case.
