Well this news is technically from the 12th Of December but Jono has
mentioned in passing our news so here it is.

The UKTeam ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com ) are extremely pleased to
announce that their Approval Application submitted to the Community
Council was successful. The UKTeam have now joined the prestigious list
of successful LocoTeams world wide. From the first meeting at this years
Linux World Expo (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UkTeam/LinuxWorldExpo2006MeetingNotes ) to the
most recent online discussions (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/MeetingNotes/20061127Meeting ) the UKTeam
are active in IRC, Mailists and Forums. In the real world the team
created the crowd gathering .ORG village stand at this years Linux
World Expo and they continue that advocacy at British Computer Fair
events. More exciting still was the recent realisation of the goal to
enable UKTeam members to become active Ubuntu Members and Alan Pope,
Sean Hammond, Joseph Price and Nik Butler were all successful in their
applications.

Making use of the already established Linux User Group Community within
the UK the team have identified members who can represent the UKTeam at
their own local linux user group (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/UKLugMembers ) .

One other piece of news following the successful attendance at the
Linux World Expo, the UKTeam ( pictured here with Jono Bacon
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/Gallery ) held a charity auction for
Children In Need which raised £300 . The auction included a White
"Ubuntu : Linux for Human Beings" T Shirt signed by the Team, Canonical
staff including Mark Shuttleworth and rather unexpectedly, but no less
welcome, by Jon Maddog Hall himself who commented " What use is fame if
you can't put it to good use". Jono Bacon added a signed copy of an
Ubuntu Book, details on the auction can be found here
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UKTeam/CharityWork/ChildrenInNeedTShirt .

With Christmas round the corner and a New Year just to come the UKTeam
are looking forward to adding their own contributions to the world wide
community that is Ubuntu.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Nik Butler
UKTeam
