Hello all, A good few weeks of preparations for the 1st bigger Software Freedom Day event in Dublin has paid off, and in my opinion it's paid off very well.
All the talks and after-talk discussions were great. We had a good mixed crowd of people, some stayed for the whole day, some came for 1 or 2 talks and others came to ask for assistance with their machines. Days like this have a great impact on local FLOSS community integration. The Software Freedom Day 2008 in Dublin was the first event organized by ubuntu-ie and it wouldn't have happened without the support and sponsoring of the auditorium by Elevate Learning, all the speakers and participants: Camara, ILUG, IFSO, Computer Education Society of Ireland, OpenStreetMap, Ruby Ireland. I've put up a few pictures from the event on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=8502530%40N08&q=SFD2008&m=text I hope your local Software Freedom Day events also went well. -- Kind Regards, Maciej Danielski a.k.a.
