http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOGCXX-80 This fixes the syslogwriter and migrates the datagramsocket to APR, so that the syslogappender now again works by sending UDP packets directly to the syslog daemon. It does not yet address the problem of using syslog() or the syslogwriter depending on whether syslog() is available; I will address this next.
