I'm being annoying on the apr-dev group right now to see if I can convince somebody to make the one line change to apr-iconv that would get them building again which should allow us to build.
It would be great to do an automated build with the Microsoft compilers. I have thought of ways to extend cpptasks so it can drive the Microsoft compilers under Wine, so you would not have to do a platform switch to check stuff, but that has stayed way down on my to- do list.
