Attachments to the mailing list are problematic.  The more common 
practice in other projects is to log a bug and attach the patch to the 
bug.  Many processes require a bug report for any change to the 
project.  I haven't seen any mention of it, but there is a log4cxx 
entry in Apache's Jira bug-tracker, 
http://nagoya.apache.org/jira/secure/BrowseProject.jspa?id=10550.  
There are currently no issues logged against log4cxx, yours would be 
the first there.
