package named 'org.apache.log4j.rolling' both in the log4j jar as well
as the c++ distribution. So I am wondering how will it work.

log4cxx 0.9.7 predates log4cxx's move to Apache and has long been
obsoleted and has many known bugs that have been fixed in the SVN.
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get an official Apache
replacement out the door to replace it, but I encourage you to
abandon 0.9.7 for the SVN HEAD and can offer no support for 0.9.7
