Hi, I have just recently started using log4j and think it is simply the best logging utility that I have seen. I have coded an enhancement in your WriteAppender class to allow users to specify a frequency flush rate instead of just allowing immediate flushes or no flushes at all. Also, I have added a runtime JVM shutdown hook to properly close the FileWriter so that important logging is not lost in the case of a JVM crash.
