Although my name is Croatian in origin, my family has used an Anglicized pronunciation since my grandfather immigrated to the United States. My best shot at a phonetic representation that makes sense is:
Kakulik -- all the consonants are hard and all the vowels are short:
a as in 'cat'
u as in 'cut'
i as in 'sick'
Another way I commonly give people for remembering my name is, "It's almost like the religion [i.e., 'Catholic' but with a 'k' instead of a 'th']".
I'll give some thought to 'talking points'.
Best regards,
Jim Cakalic
