It is my opinion that the test classes and example classes in the log4j distribution should live in a separate directory tree from the production level distribution.
Importing the source into Visual Age for Java becomes very problematic when trying to determine what core class files are needed. One example is the StressCategory which does not belong in the distribution but yet is included in the source directory tree.
