It is a "secret" feature in the sense that it will probably be patented. So won't talk about the technical details involved. In any case, the patent will be licensed such that any open source logging framework will be able to freely use the design (the subject of the patent) but not closed source frameworks. This is intended to prevent unfair competition from unscrupulous competitors.
