Nick, I followed your conversation and from beginning wonder why you do not use the shutdown hook. I do not interrupt because I thought there are special needs I do not understand. But now I must say something: Shutdown hook work well for me. I only use it in a stand alone application so I do not know whether there are any pitfalls in other environments.
