We're getting there, lots of offline discussions going on at the moment. At the moment we're tossing around how Log4j & Chainsaw interact during initialisation, but I think that you're idea would work ok. You could define your own ChainsawViewer impl that get's initialised by log4j, and when your app starts up, you could query Log4j for that GUI panel, and bind the panel as you see fit in your gui. It's be great if you could listen in and contribute to any discussions along the way. I'll add your suggestion to the Wiki.
