Performance problem with Log4j

           Summary: Performance problem with Log4j
           Product: Log4j
           Version: 1.2
          Platform: Sun
        OS/Version: Solaris
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Blocker
          Priority: Other
         Component: Appender
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We are using log4j (1.2.8 version) in our application for logging. During
production we have observed performance problems with log4j (we are using
RollingFileAppender) with number of users growing. These are some of the
results what we captured while logging with a normal java program (by creating
parallel threads for no of users). We used the debug method for logging.

Number of users Time in Millisecs

1 0-1
10 4-5
30 13-20
40 20-26
60 47-50
80 65-70

This is a show-stopper problem for us. Please provide help/advice as soon as
possible.

thanks

Naveen
