There's not even an unofficial date as to when to consider when the
unofficial release date of the ALPHA version will be..... :)

Ceki and Mark are probably still catching up on their emails from being at
the ApacheCon conference a few weeks ago.

Of course don't be afraid to build log4j 1.3 pre-alpha youself and give us
feedback.... It's all there in cvs, just check it out and use ant to build
it.... I personally think it's looking very good.

cheers,

Paul Smith

Great news! I know there's no official release date targeted, but is
there an unofficial target date for the 1.3 release?

Unfortunately that plan html page is out of date. Ceki has already done
major work in this area for the log4j 1.3 release which has not quite
reached the Alpha phase at this point. You can see the fruits of his
efforts in the org.apache.log4j.rolling package available through the
cvs module.

There is already a good chunk of test cases there for this area, so I
believe it is stable, pending the update of all the documentation
required for the release.

You will definately see this in the 1.3 release.
