I need to develop a JNI based SyslogAppender. Has this something that has been researched to date on the log4j program? I have a working prototype now, and wondered if it is something that could be considered for integration into the baseline. It is very close to the current SyslogAppender, but it uses a native library to access the functions in syslog.h, instead of throwing an UDP packet to port 514.
