We need the chainsaw.vfs classes in their own jar and downloadable from the
chainsaw page, so it can be added to the plugin directory.

Subject: [Chainsaw] Test of new distribution

If anyone has some spare time, I'd appreciate a final once over on
the latest distribution builds of Chainsaw:

i've uploaded them into a temporary spot before release so I don't
interfere with people relying on a stable release.

latest webstart: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/webstart/
chainsaw/upload/webstart-bundle-20060128/chainsawWebStart.jnlp
latest unix/dos: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/webstart/
chainsaw/upload/chainsaw-bundle-20060128.zip
latest OSX: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/webstart/chainsaw/
upload/chainsaw-20060128.dmg

These jars have been signed using my latest certificate now valid for
the next 12 months which has my name embedded in the cert along with
my email address (managed to get myself verified as a real person by
Thawte).

I've updated the chainsaw.xml/.html, but having trouble working out
how to update the site properly. Once we've verified this
distribution set, I'll use symlinks to link to respective builds so I
can easily rollback/roll forward as needed.

Note: Chainsaw is currently building with log4j 1.3 alpha 7. Once
alpha 8 is approved, I'll go ahead and update Chainsaw with that
release.

Commons VFS is not being shipped with Webstart version due to
classloading issues, but you can drop vfs, commons logging, and the
filestore implementation jars in the plugins directory, and it should
work (Jake I think you originally had problems here, be great if you
could help test this...)

If I could get a 'works for me' or 'problem here' email, i'd
appreciate it.

cheers,

Paul
