Hello, currently Maven uses Ant. But Ant is also available for a full build of log4j (not tested). Imho this is one of the reasons our build is so complex: you cannot change Maven without looking at Ant and vice versa.
I propose to drop Ant support. Ant should not longer be used to build log4j. Instead, as long as we have no better solution just use the portions of Ant which are needed by Maven. If there is a better solution build in Maven, then migrate to that. Long term goal is to remove the build.xml completely. Any objections?
